Styles of monuments:

Headstones or Upright Memorials: Headstones are typically 30 to 32 inches wide and 24 to 26 inches high, however they are not limited to these  dimensions. The most common type of memorial is a 2 piece design consisting of the Die. (vertical portion) and the Base (horizontal portion) most cemeteries require 2 or more graves to erect a headstone with the standard size for 2 graves or plots being a 42  inch long base. This means that the bottom portion of the stone can measure 42 inches wide but in many cases the top portion can be 26” or taller.

Slant Monuments: Slants are typically 16 to 18 inches high and may include a base 24 inches long or larger with the face sloping back at a 12 to 15* degree angle. The base is 24 to 36 inches wide, 12 to 14 inches deep and 6 to 8 inches high.

Flush Markers: Granite markers or Foot stones traditionally lay flush to the ground level they are generally 12 inches by 24 inches and are 4 inches thick. Some companies limit the depth of the stone to cut prices, these thinner sub standard foot stones can and will break when a vehicle or lawnmower is driven over them during normal cemetery maintenance. They also can be larger in size or may be raised above ground depending on the cemetery requirements.

Benches: Granite memorial benches serve as lasting memorials whether dedicate by civic organizations to honor fallen members, by military branches to honor soldiers or businesses to memorialize dignitaries. Benches can also be used as family monuments.
